About The Position

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, problem solving, preventative/predictive maintenance and training/mentoring on the Injection Molding Machines-both operations and maintenance associates. This position will also be called upon to give recommendations for upgrades and the purchase of new molding equipment.

  • Minimum requirements: 2-year degree in Automation Engineering Technology or a comparable program and minimum 5 years work experience with injection molding machines.
  • Computer experience with PLC programming software; brands include: RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, CX Programmer, Motion Planner, RS Linx, Microsoft DOS, RS View, and Panel Builder
  • Understanding of Ohm’s Law and other electrical theories
  • Experience with electrical measuring, testing devices including oscilloscopes, volt and amp meters
  • Experience with motion servo equipment; brands include: Lenze and Allen-Bradley
  • Experience with electrical planning, building, testing electrical panels and following electrical codes
  • Must be able to lift up to 35lbs
  • Must be able to walk/stand at least 75% of the time

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with troubleshooting and installing Human Machine Interface devices preferred; brands include Uniop and Allen-Bradley

Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate technical support to Plastics Injection molding when issues arise with the presses and attributing equipment.
  • Identify equipment issues-electrical, mechanical and hydraulics. Identify, order needed parts and make repairs.
  • Collaborate with the senior mold technician and scheduling to plan downtime to access equipment.
  • Responsible for technical documentation relating to the injection molding machines and attributing equipment.
  • Develop and implement a preventative/predictive maintenance program for the injection molding presses and attributing equipment including annual calibrations and documentation.
  • Assess current spare parts inventory and evaluate gaps or unnecessary inventory
  • Be a liaison between production, maintenance and engineering.
  • Program and back up plastics equipment.
  • Install switches, controls and other electronic devices
  • Work from schematics, diagrams, specifications, and National Electric Code
  • Utilize electrical measuring and testing devices
  • Troubleshooting VFD’s, PLC’s, servo systems, robotics and other fabricating equipment
  • Troubleshoot robotic equipment; Program and optimize efficiencies; brands include: Sepro, Fannc, Misc. CNC, and ABB
  • Troubleshoot temperature controllers, thermocouples, solid state relays, heaters, fuses, motor drives and motor contactors and make needed repairs
  • Collect and present electrical data to team leaders in MS Office formats
  • Supply justification and quotes for RFA’s
