About The Position

The Mishkon Division provides support and services in a healthy and safe environment for individuals with intellectual/ developmental disabilities living in residential programs and in community settings. POSITION OVERVIEW: Prepare and cook meals with the ability to read and understand measurements and cooking instructions. To ensure proper stock levels of food are maintained.

  • Ability to read and write and follow oral and written instructions.
  • 1-2 years’ cooking experience and the use of unsophisticated tools.
  • Knowledge and experience with Kosher dietary laws required.

  • Must have ability to use your hands in a skillful, coordinated way to grasp and manipulate objects and demonstrate small, precise movements.
  • Obtains a Food Handlers Certificate within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Glatt Kosher Dietary Laws as required by the agency’s rabbinical supervisor.
  • Prepare meals in adherence to the standards of OPWDD’s modified texture requirements as well as to the specialized diet order provided by the dietician.
  • Prepare a minimum of 50-100 or more meals per day in a commercial kitchen, tastefully, with minimal waste and spoilage from menus provided by Dietician and Food Supervisor
  • Maintain a weekly supply of food based on existing inventory as well as weekly food purchases and then submit orders to Manager/Supervisor on a weekly basis.
  • Receive and review all food orders to ensure the appropriate Kosher certifications, quality and quantity.
