About The Position

Prepares and cooks family style meals for patients, visitors and employees of Stormont-Vail Health by performing the following duties.

Requirements

  • General Knowledge of cooking and safe food handling with one year of cooking/baking/food prep experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. (Required proficiency)
  • Act cooperatively with all other employees and perform related or other duties as directed. (Required proficiency)
  • Must be dependable, possess good personal hygiene habits, and be neat and professional in appearance. (Required proficiency)

Nice To Haves

  • Courses in institutional cooking and food safety certification.

Responsibilities

  • Cooks foodstuffs in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served.
  • Meet requirements of quantity, quality and time requirements relating to meal schedules.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and perform cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Keep accurate temperature records.
  • Complies with all policies, standards, mandatory training and requirements of Stormont Vail Health
  • Performs other duties as assigned
