About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Student Activities & Campus Life, the Coordinator of Basic Needs will plan, organize, and direct operation/activities related to Basic Needs Program. This position serves as a resource to students and employees regarding students’ basic needs, and coordinates with community organizations to obtain resources for students and to promote student success, retention and completion by removing barriers to their education. This is a temporary vacancy open only to current regular, permanent employees who are members of SEIU Local 1021. This will be a “working out of classification” assignment for the selected individual. Per Article 17.2 of the Local 1021 contract, this job is being posted for ten (10) working days. Per Article 10.7, the maximum duration an individual will be able to work in this temporary position is 90 working days.

Requirements

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in a discipline related to the assignment and four (4) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and qualifying professional experience that would provide the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fulfill the duties assigned to the position.
  • Understanding of sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of Peralta Colleges’ students, faculty, staff and community.
