About The Position

The Community Impact Coordinator is responsible for all operations relating to the SPCA of Texas’ Pet Resource Center that works to keep pets in their homes and out of streets and shelters. The Community Impact Coordinator will oversee the Pet Resource Center, support all SPCA of Texas’ Community initiatives, and be an advocate to keep pets in homes where they belong.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a social service role or animal welfare outreach organization, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience should include database management, ability to handle high call volume and email/form requests.
  • Ability to work from all SPCA of Texas Campuses for Animal Care, clinic, at home, in the field, or at offsite locations as needed.
  • Static Strength: the ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 40 pounds.
  • Willingness to work around animals and activities related to their care –including medical and surgery-related activities, basic care, transporting to/from medical appointments.
  • Must be at minimum 21 years old to meet insurance requirements and must be qualified and licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the state of Texas
  • Must be eligible to be a “driver” for the SPCA of Texas and must perform “driver” duties as directed by the immediate Supervisor. Such “driver” duties may include, but not be limited to, driving an SPCA of Texas Van, and box truck.
  • Applicant must be interested in animal welfare population and serving low-income communities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Experience with animal handling preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver critical messages, resources, information, and services to the communities of focus.
  • Oversee all aspects of the Pet Resource Center to help keep pets with their families including but not limited to:         a. Onsite Pet Food Pantry and Pet Food Drive Thru Events at SPCA of Texas & offsite locations         b. Booking veterinary care appointments for basic wellness and emergency appointments, coordinate with the Customer Care Center         c. Coordinate supply pick-up/drop-off
  • Coordinate with clinic and scheduling staff to schedule spay/neuter & wellness appointments for clients.
  • Work with community leaders to gain support and funding opportunities
  • Assist with corporate engagement opportunities to increase community support via donation drives, volunteers, and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Work with Public Relations and Communications to help showcase SPCA’s Impact on the community.
  • Collaborate with the clinic to plan mobile vaccine clinics in communities that need services.
  • Manage existing partnerships with social services organizations and come up with innovative ideas to better support the community including the unsheltered population.
  • Establish volunteer opportunities and manage volunteers for the Pet Resource Center and Community Events
  • Additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Community Impact
