About The Position

The Coordinator - Community Service & Justice is a key member of the Ministry & Community Outreach team, organizing and coordinating major Days of Service for the university and supporting service-leadership that integrates reflection and justice for the betterment of students. This role serves as a resource and facilitator for the University to sustain a meaningful experience and ministerial culture of service, and is the facilitator for forming student leaders rooted in service. This role also oversees the Barry Urban Garden and the Environmental Leadership Experience as initiatives of service towards social and eco-justice and a reflection of the service and justice work of the Adrian Dominican Sisters. This position works with internal and external stakeholders to uphold the university’s core commitments.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree is required in any field.
  • 1-3 years of experience.
  • Must have 3-5 years of experience in the social sector, ministry or advocacy, higher education, non-profit management or administration in lieu of education.
  • Must possess a model of pastoral ministry and care for the human person, with a strong desire to practice Catholic Social Teaching.
  • This role should be heavily event coordinating but must integrate student formation and community organizing into all its programming.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Attention to detail and able to analyze qualitative information and data to identify trends and themes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and other external databases and software.
  • Technical use of tools traditional to service activities, i.e. paint rollers, shovels, cookware, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communications.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree is preferred in Nonprofit Management, Community Development, Practical Theology, Ministry, Higher Education.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and assess the FaithJustice Fellows Program: Oversee all logistic details for the program including promotion, recruitment, partnerships, fellow projects, and training.
  • Supervise FaithJustice Fellows including 1:1 and group mentorship, networking, professional development, and verification of work.
  • Liaison with Community Partners for performance evaluation, spiritual formation, and overall servant-leadership development, including partner selection and placement, relationship building, and site-monitoring.
  • Coordinate and facilitate regular cohort activities and engagements such as weekly reflection, semestral training retreats, and annual project presentation preparation.
  • Oversee all logistics and implementation for 4-5 University Days of Service including:
  • Oversee marketing, promotion, and invitation to all university audiences – including platform (GivePulse) management and learning for service requirements/volunteer opportunities.
  • Relationship management, project establishment, and transportation between sites and partners.
  • Procure materials, catering, and other essential needs for day-long events.
  • Integrate FaithJustice Fellows into programming for leadership development.
  • Support and mentor Peer Advocates to encourage student-leadership and engagement with campus and community issues rooted in Catholic Social Teaching:
  • Provide regular training, guidance, and spiritual formation for student-leaders advocating for relevant issues and stances that encourage civic and public participation.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and design student advocacy practices and initiatives that promote the charism and tradition of the Adrian Dominican Sisters
  • Coordinate with Faculty and relevant Campus Partners to promote engagement and support Peer Advocate formation.
  • Organize Peer Advocates to establish and coordinate nonpartisan, student-led advocacy efforts/events including: Constitution Day, Voter Registration Drives, Issue Dialogues and Discussions Collaboration for Vigils, Processions/Marches, events in the Adrian Dominican charism Liaison with Community Partners, such as NETWORK or Campus Vote Project.
  • Facilitate programs with Ministry & Community Outreach department: Works with the Director and Chaplain to assist with departmental programs such as campus-wide Mass Celebrations and other special events and provide pastoral care to students.
  • Represent and engage the department across the university and in local community.
  • Support the program management (including promotion, formation, participation, and evaluation) for the Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice and the Dominican Preaching In Action Conference.
  • Support faith-based student organizations in efforts related to ministerial and pastoral care, service, and justice.
  • Manage office operations: Marketing and promotion tasks, including submission and tracking of tickets, posting on Corq, GivePulse, and social media, and maintaining an up to date department website.
  • Processing purchases in Workday: creating requisitions, monitoring purchase orders, creating receipts for items received and following up to ensure payment has been processed and submitted to vendors.
  • Collecting, scanning, and saving AMEX credit card receipts in preparation for the account reconciliations.
  • Update department cost center tracking document, including proposed budget expenses and final payments, on a weekly basis.
