About The Position

Plans organize and conduct breastfeeding support and education for the WIC program to emphasize the optimum nutrition for infants. Coordinates breastfeeding activities with WIC staff, Cherokee Nation health clinics, and Indian Health Services. Provides staff supervision and training to clinics located in Indian Health Service facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university in a nutrition-related field; or six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An additional two (2) years of experience is required with one year being in an area of lactation management or education.
  • An individual should know Accounting software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software; and Word Processing software.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
  • Must be certified or eligible for certification in an approved breastfeeding educator program and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers; or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
  • Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information.
  • Must meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and taste or smell.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
