About the position

The Coordinator of Marketing and Residence Hall Assignments at Central Michigan University is responsible for overseeing residence hall assignments for special populations, managing marketing events, social media, and publications, as well as supervising the daily operations of the central office. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Housing Assignments and plays a crucial role in ensuring effective communication and operations within the Office of Residence Life.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises one secretary and 8 - 10 student staff for the central office.
  • Conducts performance appraisals, approves time cards, and manages vacation/sick leave requests for immediate staff.
  • Performs occupancy management for special populations including international students, athletes, and summer residents.
  • Assists with departmental housing charges and meal plans, student account billing, and appeal reviews.
  • Plans and coordinates events to promote the Office of Residence Life.
  • Supervises all publications for the Office of Residence Life, including branding and image decisions.
  • Manages the Office of Residence Life's social media accounts.
  • Responds to social media traffic impacting branding and image.
  • Manages content for the Office of Residence Life website.
  • Creates and implements communication plans for staff and student leaders.
  • Maintains files related to damage billing and disputes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience that equates to two years.
  • One year of experience in higher education.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • History of providing outstanding customer service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to connect with students, parents, and campus partners.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with university housing.
  • Previous experience with StarRez software and SAP software.
