About The Position

Under general supervision of the Director of Residential Student Experience, the Coordinator of Student Development (CSD) is a full-time, live-in role with primary responsibility for managing the daily operations of one or more of our residential neighborhoods and student leader teams. Core functions include student leader supervision, inter housing counsel advisory, resident engagement and support, on-call/crisis support, and student conduct adjudication. University Housing is a department within Student Affairs that provides enhanced and quality campus experience for students living on campus. Requirements

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Demonstrated understanding of concepts related to decision-making, student development, and fostering campus belonging.
  • Ability to interpret, communicate, and apply policies, procedures, program rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communications within a diverse population along with strong listening and interpretive skills, and the ability to deal positively with unexpected developments and diverse perspectives in and outside the University.
  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field.
  • Two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field.
  • A master’s degree, by date of hire, in a job related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
  • Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the required knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
  • Applicants for staff and management positions must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
