About The Position

The Coordinator, Student Empowerment is a front-line professional dedicated to fostering student voice and engagement. This role provides direct, hands-on support for the Student Government Association (SGA), Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs), and civic engagement initiatives. The coordinator is responsible for daily advising, logistical coordination, and program implementation that empowers students to lead, advocate, and connect with their community, contributing to a transformative student experience in alignment with the College’s 8 Student Learning Domains.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Communication, Public Administration, or a related field. (Official transcripts are required.)
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a higher education setting with direct involvement in student activities, student government, residential life, or a related area.
  • Experience in advising student groups or planning events.
  • Current and valid Texas driver’s license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience using a student engagement platform (e.g., Anthology Engage, Presence).
  • Experience with voter registration or other civic engagement initiatives.
  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Student Advising: Provide day-to-day advising and support to officers of the Student Government Association and Recognized Student Organizations, guiding them on event planning, budget management, and navigating college processes.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for students interested in forming new organizations, guiding them through the recognition process.
  • Facilitate goal setting and leadership development activities with student leaders.
  • Program and Event Coordination: Coordinate the logistics for all civic engagement programs, including voter registration drives, Constitution Day events, and service-learning projects.
  • Assist in the execution of SGA and RSO events, including securing spaces, processing purchase requests, and providing on-site support.
  • Manage the RSO registration and renewal process, maintaining accurate records and communication.
  • Provide transportation (Must be Van Driver Approved) to and from programs, events, and activities, on-site or off campus.
  • Training and Resource Development: Assist the Senior Manager in delivering a comprehensive training curriculum for SGA and RSO officers and advisors.
  • Develop and maintain practical resources, toolkits, and online materials to support student organization success.
  • Administrative and Data Support: Track and maintain records of student organization activities, membership, and compliance.
  • Collect and input assessment data related to student participation and learning in empowerment and advocacy programs.
  • Collaboration and Outreach: Promote student organizations and civic engagement opportunities to the broader student body through information tables, presentations, and digital communication.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to support student-led initiatives and events.
  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
  • Performs other job duties as required. This includes cross training across other SLE areas when applicable.
  • Required Dallas College Professional Development Hours per Academic Year. All employees are required to complete a minimum of 19 hours.
  • Perform other duties not listed as assigned.
