About The Position

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Copper Engineering Intern to join the Data Center Power and Control Team in New London, CT . The Intern will be responsible for assisting the Copper Engineering group in New London with the development, design, and testing of new and existing products.

Requirements

  • Some college coursework completed.
  • Currently enrolled in- or recently completed BSME or BSEE.
  • Creative approach to problem solving based on solid theoretical engineering skill.
  • Willing to provide engineering support required to sustain current product offering as well as evaluate new product designs. This includes performing product testing in the laboratory.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have an acceptable level of interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be able to contribute to several projects at a time.
  • Prepare written and verbal reports.
  • Conduct engineering studies/investigations.
  • Availability to work Full-Time in New London, CT.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks which includes the development of assemblies using part models of components is preferred.
  • Preferred but not required is familiarity with usage of a network analyzer, handheld cable analyzer (i.e. Fluke), and multimeter.

Responsibilities

  • Design test setups, prototype parts, and analyze product design weaknesses.
  • Conduct cable, component, and copper channel testing per standards.
  • Compile and analyze test data in organized test report formats.
  • Work as a team to improve accuracy and ease of testing and setups.
  • Assist engineering with new designs, simulation, and validation.
