About The Position

The incumbent is responsible for configuring and developing solutions within the core financial system to help business lines, through an understanding of system application knowledge and business operational workflows, to maximize the core financial system’s potential and use; all while supporting the Information Technology operations. The incumbent will be responsible for providing specific application technical administration, coordinate vendor support, maintenance and application upgrades for all aspects of the application. Provides input in the evaluation of new products and services and recommends action in pursuit of improved performance or changes to existing products and/or services to better aid operations, end-users and/or members, as it relates to the core financial application. The incumbent will be expected to provide technical support to other members of the ITO Core System Operations team aligned with VyStar Excellence. In addition, he/she will provide project and enhancement support through the appropriate phases of the systems development life cycle. The position requires strong technical skills with and is an important role in ensuring system and data confidentiality, integrity and availability.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Systems Administrator of a core financial or other institutional system similar in scale to a core system.
  • Candidate must possess knowledge and understanding of the change control/management methodology and the Systems Development Life Cycle.
  • Familiarity with data mapping, standard software development tools/techniques and testing concepts are required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret and apply common systems development requirements and design criteria.
  • Understanding of structured Quality Assurance testing program development and ongoing process support for a systems environment.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have familiarity with standard MS Office software, desktop operating systems, server operating systems and MS SQL Server.
  • Ability to use and understand network protocol is beneficial.
  • Candidate must be able to break down and communicate technical concepts to non-technical personnel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required as well as the willingness to speak publicly and interact comfortably with executive leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Candidate must be comfortable facilitating meetings, delivering presentations and presenting ideas to all levels within the organization.
  • Must be able to prioritize work and function in a lead role and escalation point for problem resolution.
  • Excellent listening skills and follow-up are required to ensure customer satisfaction and to manage customer expectations.
  • Candidate must have strong organizational and time management skills to manage projects, technical incidents and problems as well as other work that is assigned.
  • Should be able to use Microsoft Project and Visio
  • Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related academic area.
  • Additional years of related experience beyond the minimum requirement (below) may be substituted for the formal education requirement on a two-to-one basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Financial services organization (or related industry) experience is preferred.
  • Core financial application, preferably FIS’ MISER
  • The following technical certifications are highly desired: ITIL Foundations V3 Certification

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and updates functional specifications for existing application systems supporting Credit Union business processes; specifically, the core financial system application(s).
  • Perform system configuration for the core financial application systems supporting Credit Union business processes.
  • Develops an understanding of internal and/or external customer business requirements as it relates to the core financial system and core ancillary applications.
  • Collects and/or reviews requirements from business owners and/or Information Technology persons to develop and deliver solutions using core financial applications’ functionality.
  • Assists in the research and development of tactical and strategic system solutions for existing system performance issues.
  • Provides 3rd tier problem resolution assistance for system deficiencies or errors and coordinates the prompt diagnosis and resolution of core application system issues having an impact on the production environment and document management of the Credit Union business departments.
  • Coordinates with the application vendor/development team to resolve problems and trouble tickets.
  • Maintains application performance and integrity during ongoing development, modification and support processes.
  • Works with business analysts to assist in development of departmental testing requirements for core applications programs.
  • Investigates, implements, and maintains correction and lead recovery processes and activities for the application or data.
  • Closely works with the business analysts in the development, testing and implementation of new solutions and application releases.
  • Participates in large group projects under the direction of an assigned Project Manager as appropriate.
  • Must be familiar with change control principles and have previous experience with these techniques.
  • Coordinates and assists executing customization requests with internal or vendor development and support personnel.
  • Establishing, documenting and maintaining enterprise configuration standards with comprehensive system documentation and security practices in mind.
  • Monitors to ensure peak performance of the modules of the core financial application and other processes are achieved.
  • Works closely with the Information Security Team to ensure data security and protection are configured on the applications, with emphasis on PCI and PII data.
  • Assists in the development of procedure and training documentation to support the Core System Operations team to better assist them in executing their day to day operations. Including, working with team members individually and collectively to help obtain any certifications or education requirements.
  • Ensures credit union procedures follow regulations affecting information systems operations.
  • There are periods when extended hours are required to meet deadlines, and when incumbent will be “on call” for system problems encountered at any time; 24 hour per day, 7 day per week.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
