About The Position

This position is a key member of the corporate accounting team, responsible for managing the full accounting cycle for the management company. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Corporate Accountant will oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and monthly financial statement preparation. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, thrives under deadline pressure, and takes pride in producing accurate, well-organized financial records. Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to prepare written narrative reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Rent Manager or comparable property management accounting software
  • Ability to communicate effectively with company ownership and external CPAs
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently
  • Works effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Commitment to the highest standards of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, and a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work at the corporate office in front of a computer screen approximately 90% of a typical working day
  • Ability to bend, reach, and lift boxes and office supplies up to 30 pounds
  • Five years of recent, hands-on accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred; candidates with an equivalent combination of education and hands-on accounting experience will be considered
  • Must be able to pass 7-year background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Rent Manager is a plus
  • CPA or CPA-eligible preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounts receivable and accounts payable for the corporate entity
  • Monitor cash balances and prepare cash flow forecasts
  • Prepare bank account, credit card, and debt service reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly invoices from the management company to properties in the portfolio
  • Prepare all journal entries with supporting backup documentation
  • Perform month-end closing and prepare financial statements for the corporate entity and owner's investment properties
  • Prepare workers' compensation payroll audits
  • Process payroll in coordination with outside payroll service provider
  • Support annual audit and tax preparation by compiling schedules and workpapers
  • Assist with system and process improvement initiatives as they arise
