About The Position

The Corporate Controller will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, accounting operations, compliance, and internal controls for a growing construction firm. This leadership role requires a strategic, hands-on professional with 8+ years of experience, ideally in construction or related industries, and strong familiarity with NetSuite. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, driving financial accuracy, process optimization, and team performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification required
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a controller or senior leadership role
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance
  • Proven expertise with NetSuite (implementation/migration experience strongly preferred) and advanced Excel; familiarity with Ramp or similar tools
  • Construction industry experience preferred, with understanding of job costing, revenue recognition, and project-based accounting
  • Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong leadership and communication skills; experience building and mentoring teams

  • Exposure to multi-entity consolidations, budgeting/forecasting, and ERP optimizations
  • Knowledge of construction-specific financial challenges (e.g., retainage, change orders, lien management)

Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes using NetSuite and integrated systems, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Oversee general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments across multiple entities, jobs, and cost centers
  • Direct revenue recognition, job cost accounting, and project-based financial analysis for fire protection services and construction projects
  • Manage reconciliation of credit cards, expenses, vendor accounts, and bank statements via platforms like Ramp
  • Supervise ongoing NetSuite migration from Microsoft Dynamics GP, including data integrity, testing, training, and optimization
  • Prepare financial statements, variance analyses, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections for executive review
  • Ensure robust internal controls, GAAP compliance, and audit readiness; coordinate with internal/external auditors
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, workflows, and efficiencies to support company growth and scalability
  • Partner with operations, project teams, and leadership to enhance financial visibility, cost management, and decision-making
  • Mentor and manage a small accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability
  • Monitor key financial metrics, KPIs, and risk areas; advise on tax strategies, treasury, and capital planning
