Corporate Counsel is a member of the Department of Legal Affairs (DLA) and responsible, under the guidance of the Chief Legal Officer, the Deputy General Counsel, Associate General Counsel, and/or Senior Corporate Counsel, for providing legal services and advice on a wide range of matters for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Cedars-Sinai Health System, and other affiliates (collectively, Cedars-Sinai). Corporate Counsel has a degree of independence in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, which will vary depending on the relative complexity of the project. Corporate counsel analyzes and interprets relevant law, advises on strategic, operational and policy matters, participates in enterprise risk management, advises on agreements and negotiation of transactions, and develops an understanding of trends and forces shaping the health care industry in the context of legal requirements. Corporate Counsel works to foster and maintain a team-focused approach to the delivery of legal services for Cedars-Sinai with other members of the DLA and with members of other departments which share responsibility for enterprise risk management. Corporate Counsel reports to an Associate General Counsel. Corporate Counsel must establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff at all levels in Cedars-Sinai, as well as with outside counsel, consultants, vendors, agents, and others.
