About The Position

This role is an experienced Data Architect with a strong focus on designing, implementing, and managing end-to-end data platform solutions using Databricks technologies on the Azure cloud. Under the office of the Customer Experience team, which is the home for the enterprise data and analytics function, and working closely with colleagues in IT, this role will support the efforts of the data and analytics team to ensure business value is derived from our data infrastructure in the early development and maturation of our data infrastructure. This is a Corporate position which may be located in an available bank division across our nine-state footprint in AZ, CO, ID, MT, NV, TX, UT, WA, or WY. The entry rate for this position is $117,159.12 + / year (calculated for Kalispell, MT). Click here to learn more about our bank divisions. All compensation offers are analyzed individually and take into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, years of experience, and educational background. Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or similar field with a significant quantitative component.
  • 7 years experience building data solutions on cloud platforms, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure and Databricks environments.
  • 3 years experience architecting data solutions on Databricks (any cloud).
  • Experience with full life-cycle implementations of data platforms, including designing data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Databricks workflows.
  • Developing data capabilities using languages including SQL and Spark.
  • Software or data engineering development using programming languages such as Java, Python, or C/C+. (Python preferred.)
  • Experience with a number of Microsoft and other Data Tools, including Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure DevOps, and provisioning and configuring end-to-end Azure data services
  • The ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior level professionals is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogues, as well as a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to talk to every level, from C-level executives to front-line employees.
  • Ability to create data modernization roadmaps, leveraging deep technical knowledge of Databricks and Microsoft Azure tools to meet complex business and IT needs.
  • Ability to manage compute/storage needs on Databricks (eg. cluster definitions, etc.).
  • Ability to develop and improve metadata management frameworks, alerting and monitoring capabilities, event-driven orchestration capabilities, and related data pipeline features.
  • Implement modern data architectures that handle structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard data architectures and schemas, including lakehouse designs, medallion architectures, and Kimball-style star-schemas.
  • Ability to design and implement logical and physical data models specifically for cloud data warehouse environments like Databricks Delta Lake.
  • Experience with a number of Microsoft and other Data Tools, including Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure DevOps, and provisioning and configuring end-to-end Azure data services

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and document Databricks & Azure-based technical solutions and data products, leveraging a broad range of available toolsets, with considerations around scalability, availability, reliability, maintainability, usability, agility, and securability.
  • Act as a team lead on projects, directing the technology process and ensuring expectations are met to build trust and credibility.
  • Implement end-to-end data platform solutions and support existing data lakehouse, which will include hands-on-keyboard engineering and development work.
  • Serve as an effective technical mentor to more junior teammates and communicate efficiently and effectively with a variety of stakeholders in the business and IT departments.
  • Keep abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and capabilities, within Databricks and otherwise, and continue to grow and develop the architectural skillset.
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Must complete the assigned online training courses. and achieve a passing score by due date.
