About The Position

As Corporate/Senior Corporate Counsel you will work collaboratively with the rest of the company as part of our legal team to drive growth and ensure the company’s continued success. The majority of your work will involve supporting Origami’s Sales organization through commercial contract review and negotiation with existing and prospective clients. Additional responsibilities include reviewing and writing various internal policies, negotiating and managing vendor contracts, and contributing to broader legal initiatives. Starting base pay for this role is between $150,000 and $190,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, training, location, and market demands. The base pay range covers both the Corporate Counsel and Senior Corporate Counsel roles. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role will be eligible for a bonus as well as competitive medical, dental, and vision benefits, wellness reimbursement, life insurance, and a 401(k) with company match. We offer vacation and sick leave benefits (under a flexible time off policy in most states).

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited United States law school.
  • Active law license in good standing in the state of Illinois.
  • 3-5 years of legal experience, with a preference for at least 2-3 years in an in-house legal department. Additional years of experience required for Senior Corporate Counsel consideration.
  • Extensive experience in contract negotiations and client management for technology/software solutions and web-based offerings.
  • Experience with privacy and security matters (e.g., HIPAA, CCPA, and GDPR) and negotiation of data processing agreements.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
  • Highly responsive, collaborative, and service-oriented can-do attitude.
  • Ability to independently manage workflow with numerous internal stakeholders and assist other team members as needed.
  • Comfort operating in a fast‑paced environment and supporting high‑volume commercial activity.
  • Familiarity with technical concepts in software applications.
  • Business-oriented mindset and approach to legal issues.
  • Experience working with AI-based tools and an interest in leveraging AI to streamline legal workflows and contract review processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with government contracting and responding to RFPs a plus.
  • Experience with marketing matters and contracts a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts, reviews, and negotiates a broad spectrum of agreements including SaaS agreements, partnership agreements, technology agreements, web-based terms and conditions, leases, and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Communicates with internal stakeholders, clients, and vendors as part of the negotiation process.
  • Builds strong relationships with peers in Sales, Services, and other departments.
  • Researches legal issues (including changes in state, federal, and international law), drafts executive summaries, and communicates research findings to internal stakeholders.
  • Provides sound, practical legal advice, identifies legal risks, and executes appropriate risk mitigation strategies for the company and its affiliates.
  • Consults with senior management, outside counsel, tax experts, accountants, and other advisors, as necessary.
  • Negotiates and attempts to resolve potential legal disputes.
  • Works on special projects with senior management, other members of the legal team, and outside counsel, as necessary.
  • Assists with key legal department initiatives, particularly around efficiency and scalability, including improving agreement templates, implementing process improvements, and integrating AI tools.
  • Takes on additional projects, as needed.
