Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Manager to lead and manage all aspects of the company’s tax function; ensuring compliance, optimizing tax strategies, and supporting executive leadership in financial planning initiatives. The Corporate Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing federal, state, and local tax compliance and planning for a multi-entity construction organization. This role will manage income tax, sales and use tax, and property tax matters, with a strong emphasis on construction industry-specific tax regulations including percentage-of-completion accounting, multi-state nexus, and job costing considerations. The Corporate Tax Manager will work closely with the accounting leadership team and report to the Chief Financial Officer. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented tax professional with experience in the construction industry.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 3-5 Years Public Accounting Experience with a large regional or Big 4 accounting firm.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in similar accounting role and working understanding of GAAP
  • Must have proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams, etc. and be able to work well within a network environment.
  • Keen analytic ability to review, assess and interpret trends of large quantities of disparate financial data required
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion related to all business and people matters
  • Must be detail oriented and be able to identify issues or inaccuracies.
  • Must have critical thinking abilities
  • Must be able to function in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Must be able to work multiple tasks and between a variety of departments
  • Must be a strong team player, self-starter, flexible and be able to work well with a variety of personalities, with minimal instruction, and minimal direct supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Active or Inactive CPA License Strongly Preferred.
  • Experience in a similar role with a large specialty and/or general contractor.
  • Experience working in a multi-entity and intercompany corporate structure.
  • Advanced Excel skillset.
  • Experience working in accounting software Oracle JD Edwards Enterprise One.

Responsibilities

  • Manage preparation and review of federal, state, and local income tax returns for multiple entities (corporations, partnerships, and joint ventures)
  • Execute sales & use tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions
  • Ensure compliance with multi-state tax regulations and nexus requirements
  • Manage quarterly estimated tax payments and annual extensions
  • Review tax provision calculations (ASC 740) and support annual audits
  • Collaborate and manage external auditors and tax advisors
  • Lead correspondence and responses to federal, state and local tax authorities
  • Support ERP system tax configurations
  • Analyze, monitor, and pursue legislative, regulatory, and judicial state tax developments
  • Advise management of tax consequences and opportunities in connection with ongoing business activities and proposed transactions with emphasis on tax efficiency and compliance with legal requirements
  • Collaborate across multiple departments to ensure various taxes are captured accurately in job cost and owner billings
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned
