About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! The Correction Enterprise Supervisor II is responsible for training offenders in the safe, proper, and efficient operation of equipment and practices used in a sewing manufacturing environment. This role ensures that production meets established quality and quantity standards in compliance with all applicable laws, policies, and regulations. About Correction Enterprise The Correction Enterprises division is committed to providing technical and behavioral job training to offenders, aiming to enhance their skills and increase their chances of successful reintegration into society upon release. They achieve this goal by operating a self-sufficient business that mirrors a real-life work environment, which exposes offenders to practical work experience, and helps them develop positive work ethics and attitudes. This is done at no cost to North Carolina taxpayers, making it a sustainable and valuable program for offenders and the community alike.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and a minimum of two years of related industry/service experience; OR An equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission
  • Agriculture - NC Pesticide License and NC Wastewater License
  • Cannery – Low Acid and Acidified Food Production certification must be obtained within one year of hire.
  • Laundry - Certified Professional Laundry Manager or Certified Laundry and Linen Manager certification.
  • Braille - Certified Braille Transcriber certificate must be obtained within 18 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented experience with hands on sewing equipment & tools. Ex. Machines press snips etc.
  • Documented experience in a production manufacturing environment.
  • Documented supervisory experience with skilled & unskilled workers.

Responsibilities

  • Organizing and directing offender work assignments
  • Setting up equipment for processing raw materials
  • Preparing written reports on inventory levels, equipment specifications, offender incidents, incentive wage payroll, and production schedules
