If you are looking for a rewarding career, please consider the Correctional Associate Warden / Correctional Assistant Superintendent for Programs II opportunity with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, as well as retirement. This position is located at Neuse Correctional Institution, Wayne County. The Assistant Correctional Superintendent for Programs II manages the total program services of a prison facility, which provides a variety of programs and services to the offender population. The program services include classification services, chaplaincy services, recreational services, transitional services, work programs, prison life programs, substance abuse programs, healthcare services, and mental health services. The position provides leadership, direction, coordination, and support for planning, designing and implementing corrective, rehabilitative and therapeutic programs for offenders. The position provides developmental, advisory and technical assistance for programs and reviews new/enhanced modification to existing programs. The position is responsible and accountable to the Division of Institutions for policies, standards, audits, and staff development related to efforts made to direct offenders toward cooperative living while in prison and law-abiding behavior following release. The position will direct and supervise various activities of professional and sub-professional staff engaged in the correctional program services and will be responsible for providing ongoing training for those staff. The position will have primary responsibility and accountability for the Administrative Remedy Procedure to ensure effectiveness and legality. The position will assist with budget planning, projections and facility management. The position will be responsible, both directly and indirectly, for public relations with the public. The position is assigned to prison facilities, which house and provide services for a minimum of 500 offenders and staff size is more than 200. The position serves as the Associate Warden in charge in the absence of Warden and is a participant of the facility management team. The position will rotate as Officer-in-Charge and Duty Officer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of supervisory or management level experience in CORRECTIONAL programs. -OR- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
