About The Position

This position is located at Maury Correctional Institution in Hookerton, NC. Maury Correctional Institution is a close-custody prison housing male offenders. The facility is designed to house a maximum capacity of 1500 offenders. Positions at this level perform Duties include data entry, collection, and making and reporting clinical impressions of inmates during assessment or in daily activities on the Residential Mental Health or infirmary unit. This position may assist in group or individual supportive counseling in groups such as arts and crafts, leisure activities, horticulture, and quilting. This position may be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and inventorying supplies used for programming. Employees may set up testing situations in the diagnostic center and in monitoring inmates as they work on treatment goals and may also assist in aftercare planning under the direction of a clinical social worker. Employee's supportive counseling role includes the use of crisis intervention techniques and referral to treatment staff as required

Requirements

  • Proficient knowledge of fundamental principles, techniques and methods of behavior therapy field to include assessments, evaluations, development of goals and activities.
  • Proficient knowledge of behavior management techniques.
  • Working knowledge of population served and of the area when required for particular job.
  • Demonstrated skills in writing goals and programs.
  • Proven ability to plan and conduct program of leisure/rehabilitative activities.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and document progress and to present to the Treatment Team.
  • Proven ability to establish rapport and relate to population served, families, colleagues and staff, community agencies and groups and variety of treatment service disciplines
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or other human services field from an appropriately accredited institution with several classes in psychology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Positions being recruited specifically for diagnostics will require at least one year administering and/or conducting psychological testing.
