We are seeking dedicated and experienced candidates for the position of Work out of Class Correctional Lieutenant. This is an excellent opportunity for career advancement while playing a crucial role in maintaining security, overseeing staff, and guiding AICs toward rehabilitation. These positions are only available for current employees of the Oregon Department of Corrections, BPPPS, OCE. This position is a job rotation anticipated to last 6 months, though may be extended or decreased due to business need. This rotation available for current regular status employees of the Oregon Department of Corrections, Oregon Corrections Enterprises, or Oregon Board of Parole, Probation, and Post-Prison Supervision with their current manger's approval. About the Job – Your Role As a WOC Correctional Lieutenant, you will fill the position as a senior security staff member responsible for overseeing custody, control, supervision, and daily care of adults in custody while upholding the mission of the Department. Lieutenants supervise an entire shift of Security staff, assigning staff as institution-needs dictate, providing direction and instruction, makes operational decisions impacting the facility and maintains security at all times by ensuring staff follow and enforce established Department of Corrections Rules and Procedures, Institutional Procedures, Post Orders, and Administrative Directives. In this role, you will also play a key part in the institution’s leadership team and expected to uphold the DOC Leadership Philosophy: Leaders are visionaries who see possibilities, connections, and solutions. Requirements

  • The candidate is not on any active disciplinary actions or corrective measures.
  • The candidate is current on all required trainings and certifications.
  • The candidate has completed any probationary period in the candidate’s current role.
  • Three years of experience in a correctional security setting where primary duties were the care and custody of inmates.
  • One year of which must have been at the level of a Sergeant in a correctional system.
  • Have or be able to obtain, within two weeks, an Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Correctional Certificate OR a Correctional Certificate from another government agency
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED certificate
  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • United States Citizen
  • Ability to obtain a valid Oregon motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.
  • The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
