To learn more about our agency, please watch our video: Join Our Team MCSO is seeking qualified candidates for a temporary summer position as a COLLEGE INTERN in our Programs Unit. We are seeking energetic and friendly individuals to support our Programs Unit (2 positions) with administrative tasks. These interns will work closely with MCSO staff at the Multnomah County Detention Center and Multnomah County Inverness Jail, assisting with tasks to support adults in custody and recently released individuals to ensure smooth operational flow at MCSO. The Programs College Intern will support Corrections Counselors at both the Multnomah County Inverness Jail (MCIJ) and the Multnomah County Detention Center (MCDC). Interns will assist in providing educational, skill-building, and leisure programming to adults in custody at each facility.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and updating data and tracking documents
  • Processing and organizing service requests
  • Archiving program paperwork
  • Shadow Corrections Counselors at both locations as they respond to day-to-day needs, participate in release-planning activities, and provide a range of programmatic supports to adults in custody
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating group classes, workshops, and pro-social activities
  • Support program inventory by tracking materials, preparing activity supplies, and helping maintain organized program spaces
  • Help review, update, and create resource materials for adults in custody, such as reentry guides, class handouts, and community resource lists
  • Shadow program groups
  • Learn basic mailroom operations
  • Observe treatment-readiness dorm operations
  • Ability to pass a criminal justice records check
