The Corrections Nurse is responsible for providing care and care coordination for inmates who are incarcerated in a correctional facility. Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care within a correctional facility . The Corrections RN plays a critical role in delivering quality healthcare to an incarcerated population while ensuring compliance with clinical standards, safety protocols, and facility regulations.
Requirements
- Active RN license in good standing
- Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience (required)
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and facility clearance
Nice To Haves
- Previous correctional, emergency, acute care, or medical-surgical experience preferred
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and documentation skills
- Ability to work effectively in a secure, fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop care plans
- Administer medications, treatments, and injections per provider orders
- Respond to medical emergencies and triage inmate patients
- Manage chronic care clinics and follow-up care
- Document patient care accurately in electronic medical records
- Collaborate with providers, LPNs, and correctional staff
- Ensure compliance with state nursing regulations and correctional healthcare policies
- Provide patient education and health counseling
