This intern position will be responsible for supporting the Corrosion Engineering section by collecting cathodic protection data, field verifying corrosion assets in GIS, and performing various other duties including inspection and maintenance. Data gathered through this internship will be utilized to prioritize future cathodic protection (CP) upgrade projects and assist in data analysis. This intern will join the Engineering division and will: Perform measurements on Cathodic Protection (CP) test stations using a voltmeter, reference electrode, tablet, and GPS unit. Repair test stations by replacing broken or missing parts. This may include excavating and replacing test station posts, splicing conductors, replacing terminal board cards, and terminating conductor ends with ring terminals as needed. Perform field verification of CP assets against a GIS database and note issues and discrepancies. Perform preventative maintenance of CP test stations including painting, installation of new terminal board cards, and updating conductor terminations. Perform inspections of new and existing assets, documenting condition, and providing reports. Drive a Denver Water vehicle as part of duties. Perform related duties as assigned.
