About The Position

The Cost Analyst provides support to the cost accounting function within S. Martinelli & Company. The Cost Analyst is a business partner to Orchard Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain Leadership. The position will execute standards development, the monthly closing process, and complete various projects to assist the Company in understanding key cost drivers. The Cost Analyst is responsible for continuously improving cost standards, metrics, system operations, and analyses. The position will be responsible for managing capital reporting and communication with the Engineering Team. The Cost Analyst will support the finance team in executing appropriate financial controls, especially those related to inventory and procurement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Experience with SAP or other large-scale ERP systems
  • Professional curiosity and ability to self-investigate and resolve variances, technical impediments, and other challenges
  • Ability to collaboratively work with various functional groups with a focus on data-based decision making and process improvement
  • Ability to prepare, interpret, and communicate information verbally and with digital tools, including spreadsheets and business intelligence applications
  • Be a team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, including strong internal drive, ethics, conscientiousness, diplomacy, flexibility, and dependability
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, to prioritize tasks, meet multiple deadlines, and ensure that work is accomplished in the time frames required
  • Proficient at maintaining awareness of overall company activities and connecting that with specific tasks and situations
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to respect confidential matters by exercising individual discretion
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, Index/Match, Complex Analyses, Excel Models) and Word
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to pass a background check, and drug screen.
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time, and periodically lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to stand and/or sit in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, CMA, or other applicable professional financial certification
  • Experience in food manufacturing or agricultural goods processing industry
  • Experience with decision-support systems, including Domo and Adaptive Insights

Responsibilities

  • Execute the Company’s financial planning process as it relates to cost development. This includes assisting manufacturing leadership in identifying cost drivers and understanding the impacts of business variables on the Company’s cost structure
  • Assist in building annual standards that accurately reflect SKU-level costs for use in profitability analysis
  • Support the orchard operations management team in building accurate long-term production and cost forecasts
  • Provide insightful analysis to inform business decisions around material procurement
  • Collaborate with the finance team to execute the monthly close process within an SAP environment
  • Provide variance analysis to inform the business on key issues impacting manufacturing, procurement, and maintenance performance
  • Clearly communicate between accounting and operational metrics, acting as the bridge between financial metrics and operational drivers
  • Manage the Company’s Capital Investment Reporting Process
  • Operate the fixed asset accounting functions within the company
  • Develop, and support the development of, presentations for key stakeholders such as lending institutions, the board of directors, and shareholders
  • Support supply chain improvement by understanding key drivers such as line speed and capacity, product demand, and the Company’s warehouse network
  • Maintain and enhance the Company’s cost drivers and metrics in the financial planning system
  • Assist with all audit requirements as they relate to inventory and costs, fixed assets, and orchard operations accounting
  • Perform analyses, special projects, and other duties as directed by finance management
