About The Position

BASIC FUNCTION The Costume Specialist will manage the design, construction, collaboration and/or coordination of costumes for Summer On Broadway camp productions. In addition, they will mentor and educate Behind the Scenes campers on the skill of costume design. This position will perform standard upkeep and maintenance of equipment during the designated production(s) and will establish continued excellence in organization of materials and tools with which they are working. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Responsible for inventory and maintaining the condition of equipment with which they are working during camp productions. Designs and implements for the behind the scenes focus area to which they are assigned. Will at times be designated to do standard, basic maintenance and organization of materials. Trains users/campers in the safe operation and care for materials. Will manage volunteers and campers positively and efficiently when they are assisting with technical production projects. Will complete the required training for ACA accreditation and orientation for the Skokie Park District. Works closely and cooperatively with other District employees to insure a coordinated theatre production of the highest quality. Attends meetings when requested.Actively promotes and adheres to the District's safety standards. Performs other duties as assigned. OTHER DUTIES Performs other duties as assigned. Must have the ability to coordinate all aspects of the position in an organized, efficient manner. Must possess excellent verbal communication skills; ability to establish positive and professional interpersonal relationships with other production staff, customers, and business associates. Must have the ability to write, speak and develop reports clearly. Ability to follow proper maintenance practices for all related equipment. The Costume Specialist must adhere to and actively enforce the safety responsibilities and safety procedures outlined in the District's Safety Manual, and overall risk management program. Dates: This is a seasonal job. The start date is May 30, 2026 and the end date is July 31, 2026 This job falls in paygrade PT4. The target hiring range for this position is $17.00 - $19.5 depending on qualifications. Requirements

  • Experience required in costume design/coordination/construction either in educational, community or professional arena.
  • Must be able to obtain an American Red Cross CPR/First Aid Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer individual with a B. A. Degree or studying in Costume Design or related field and /or individual with at least 2 years costume design experience.
