About The Position

Easterseals is seeking a Licensed and Registered Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide high-quality outpatient therapy services to pediatric clients. Under the clinical direction and supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA plays a critical role in helping children develop functional skills that support independence, participation, and success at home, school, and in the community. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, supporting individualized treatment plans while partnering closely with families and the clinical team. Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) program
  • Current and active State of Florida COTA license
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively engage children, families, and team members
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency and experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to professional growth and self-development
  • Positive attitude toward individuals with disabilities and alignment with the Easterseals mission and work environment
  • Willingness to be flexible and adapt to program needs
  • Demonstrates integrity, tact, and sound professional judgment
  • Ability to meet approved driver qualifications (minimum age 21 with a good driving record) for occasional business use of a personal vehicle

  • Medicaid and NPI numbers preferred
  • Previous pediatric therapy experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans with peer review demonstrating acceptable clinical quality, under the direction of a Licensed Occupational Therapist
  • Provide education, training, and support to clients and their families to promote carryover of therapeutic strategies
  • Achieve established productivity goals while maintaining high quality of care
  • Document client progress notes, summaries, billing information, and justifications for equipment, payment, and treatment within required policy timeframes
  • Utilize electronic systems proficiently, including EMR, Office 365, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams
  • Facilitate coordinated care for pediatric clients through communication and follow-up with the clinical team, parents/guardians, and supervising Occupational Therapist
  • Manage an assigned caseload with regular collaboration and communication with the supervising OT to ensure best practices and quality outcomes
  • Maintain organized patient files and complete related clerical and administrative tasks
  • Assist the Occupational Therapist with administrative support, including monitoring Plan of Care (POC) dates for active clients
  • Provide therapy services across other Easterseals programs as needed, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to assume additional responsibilities
  • Achieve treatment goals and objectives within defined timetables
