About The Position

The Counter Sales Representative is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to walk-in clients, accurately processing sales orders, assisting with product selection, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the sales floor and product displays. This role requires product knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced wholesale distribution environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in counter sales, retail sales, or customer service in plumbing.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email).
  • Ability to learn and retain product knowledge quickly.
  • Professional demeanor and a customer-first attitude.
  • Fork life and cherry picker certification in house at Wilkinson Supply Co.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in plumbing as a plumber or related role
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers in person at the sales counter in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Accurately enter sales orders, returns, and quotes using the company’s POS system.
  • Provide knowledgeable product information and make recommendations based on customer needs.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse team for product availability, pick-up, and delivery logistics.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels by monitoring stock and reporting low levels to purchasing or management.
  • Ensure the sales counter, showroom, and product displays are clean, organized, and visually appealing.
  • Handle customer concerns and resolve issues promptly or escalate to supervisor as needed.
  • Assist with replenishing stock on shelves.
  • Collaborate with inside and outside sales teams to support overall branch goals.
  • Follow all safety and operational procedures as established by company policy.
  • Answering phones.
  • Saturday work 7:30am - 12pm once every 6 or 7 weeks.
  • Responsible for maintenance on open orders and open purchase orders once a week.
  • Generating purchase orders for special order products.
  • Pulling orders.
  • Adding new items to inventory when customer routinely orders them.
  • All other duties as assigned.
