About The Position

The Courier performs responsible and detailed administrative work delivering and processing mail, materials and supplies. May also transport deposits to base location or supplies between various county locations. Work may be performed with little supervision under tight time schedules.

Requirements

Knowledge of safety regulations, equipment operations, and supply services procedures
knowledge of streets and locations within the County and of Virginia traffic laws
some knowledge of office terminology, procedures, and equipment
ability to use cell phone
ability to operate light motor vehicle safely and skillfully
ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
ability to communicate effectively with departments/personnel
Any combination of education experience equivalent to completion of high school and some related experience
Satisfactory health condition as certified by competent medical authority
Possession of a valid appropriate driver's permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia

Responsibilities

Operates a light motor vehicle to pick up, transport, and deliver mail, cafeteria deposits, supplies, materials, and/or equipment between various county locations
Performs minor preventative maintenance on assigned vehicle
Drives assigned route; adapts route according to operational need
Sorts, indexes interoffice mail
Performs other duties as assigned
