Responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, calibrations and preventive maintenance of refinery analyzer equipment such as Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), field mounted H2S and LEL Sensors, pH analyzers, O2 analyzers, H2S fuel gas analyzers, and laser detection technology. Plans and coordinates work following appropriate work orders, work permits, and safety instructions. Demonstrates ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, and wiring schematics. Plans and lays out work from Instrument/Electrical/Analyzer drawings (wiring diagrams, loops, datasheets, piping and instrumentation diagrams, etc.) or other written specifications. Takes ownership of assigned field problems and sees them to completion. Takes lead/initiative in contacting outside vendors and tech support in order to troubleshoot problems and see them to completion. Uses trend data (PHD, Uniformance, DAAS, etc…) from analyzers and other operational field equipment to determine root cause of abnormal readings. Follows and enforces all local safety, environmental and emergency rules and regulations, wears safety equipment as required. Performs work activities in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Uses hand/power tools and specialized measuring and testing instruments. Operates heavy equipment (forklift, manlift, scissor lift, trucks, etc.). Other duties may be assigned as directed by Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, and/or Plant Manager. This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay. The rate for this position is $55.78 and represents Valero’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of expected compensation at the time of this posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of job-related factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications and experience.
