Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) - Behavioral Health - In-Patient Unit - Evenings The Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) at the New York Presbyterian Hospital is part of the interdisciplinary treatment team. The CASAC’s primary function is to provide comprehensive counseling to alcohol/substance dependent patients. This is accomplished by performing a complete assessment of each patient, identifying areas of need, developing individualized treatment plans and evaluating effectiveness of treatment. As well, the CASAC helps patients to focus on maintaining total abstinence and make a strong connection to the 12 Step self-help programs. You will act as a liaison with outside alcohol/substance abuse related agencies and between patient, family, community and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Join our team and serve as a treatment care coordinator for our patients. This is a full time evening shift position (3:15 pm -11:15pm ) located at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, writing and analytical skills
  • CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) certification
  • Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual – English and Spanish
  • A comprehensive knowledge of chemical dependency
