About The Position

The Credit and AR Analyst is responsible for the hands-on administration of credit and collection activities for the accounts receivable (AR) portfolio. This role manages the full lifecycle of customer accounts, including credit investigation, payment processing, and proactive collection efforts. The Analyst works closely with Finance and Sales departments to balance risk mitigation with business growth, ensuring the company’s cash flow remains strong and disputes are resolved efficiently.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in business credit and collections.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business preferred; or a combination of education and significant industry experience.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to interpret financial data and credit reports to make informed risk decisions.
  • Communication: Advanced negotiation skills and the ability to maintain professionalism when discussing past-due balances with customers.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 (specifically Excel) and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
  • Adaptability: Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with a steady, organized approach.
  • Physical: Regularly required to sit for long periods, use hands for keyboarding, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Travel: Occasional local travel may be required; must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work occasional extended hours to meet month-end or year-end closing deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Credit Risk Assessment: Evaluates new and existing customer risk to determine creditworthiness. Investigates credit applications and recommends credit limits based on financial analysis and trade references.
  • Portfolio Management: Actively monitors customer aging reports to identify and prioritize collection efforts. Owns the follow-up process for delinquent accounts via phone and written communication.
  • Cash Application & Adjustments: Documents and processes daily cash and credit card postings. Handles general ledger and AR adjustments, offsets, and transaction corrections with high accuracy.
  • Dispute Resolution: Investigates and resolves customer discrepancies or payment disputes. Coordinates with Customer Service and Sales to rectify billing issues and release credit holds daily.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Tracks and reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) including DSO (Days Sales Outstanding), >60-day aging, and bad debt exposure.
  • Account Maintenance: Updates and maintains accurate customer master data, including tax IDs, addresses, and branch additions.
  • Audit & Compliance: Supports Internal Control and ISO audit functions. Provides necessary documentation for financial audits to ensure compliance with internal control programs.
  • Process Improvement: Analyzes existing AR processes to identify bottlenecks and recommends improvement initiatives to streamline collections and data entry.
  • Collaboration: Partners with Sales management to find strategic solutions for "at-risk" customers while maintaining professional relationships.
