The primary focus of this position is to act as the utility company’s qualified company representative and oversee the safety, quality and/or operations of contractors working on utility company property. Example of Duties: Employees in this classification may be assigned to one or more of the following functions: Transmission & Distribution Crew Overwatch, Quality Assurance Inspection or Generator Watch. General Maintains a Daily Crew Logbook in accordance with Pro Energy’s standards. Maintains vehicle and assigned equipment and ensures that it is in safe and functioning condition. Wears appropriate PPE to jobsites including FR gear, hardhat, eye protection and Hi Vis shirt/vest. Escalates any issues to the Inspector Lead. Performs other duties as assigned. Transmission & Distribution Crew Overwatch Safety Acts as a safety observer, uses Stop Work Authority and Pause when unsure. Participates in the daily tailboard conducted by the Contractor when present at the jobsite. Ensures the Contractor has the proper permits, safety procedures and safety equipment necessary for safe execution of the work. Verifies Contractor’s compliance with job site permit requirements. Notifies Contractor immediately if they witness an unsafe act which could compromise the safety of the public or Contractor employees; provides guidance coaching to correct. Notifies the utility company’s supervisor immediately of safety incidents including but not limited to injuries, MVIs, work procedure errors, unplanned outages, property damage, and dig ins. Quality Provides guidance to Contractors on the utility company’s construction standard specifications. Reviews completed work and work-in-progress for GO 95 and/or 128 infractions, resolving while onsite with the crew. Confirms correct equipment is being installed in accordance with the job design and consults with the utility company if job designs require certain red line changes. Operations Participates in the job site tailboard briefing. Observes certain critical tasks related to clearances and switching, ensuring all equipment is in good working condition and not modified in any way. Acts as the liaison between the Distribution Control Center and contract crew; directs contract crew in performing simple switching operations. Clearance holder for all electric contractor crew clearances including EOL notifications and non-test orders. Updates OMT and Planned Outage Coordinator of the start and end times for customer planned outages. Confirms that the contractor’s time, personnel, and equipment on the job was necessary and recorded accurately, reporting any discrepancies to the utility company. Notifies the utility company when job start/end times are delayed and verifies approval for cancelled jobs. Quality Assurance Inspection Checks for quality control through software (i-auditor) behind a third-party contractor and verifies that they are building to specifications per job scope and GEO 95 and/or 128 specifications. References the utility company’s CCSE form and other materials to complete audit. Writes up go-backs. Generator Watch Provides safety watch of generator technician work at utility company sites. Contacts the utility company’s Grid Control Center if a generator goes down. Ensures safety of the site including fire watch, adherence to the emergency response plan, spill response, proper refueling procedures and the safety of contractors coming onsite. Notifies the Inspector Lead of any outages, scope changes or coordination changes.
