ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Care of clients in all treatment areas to ensure their comfort and well-being. Including, but not limited to, daily assessment of their physical and mental state and upkeep and accuracy of their charts. BRIEF OUTLINE OF POSITION: Responsible for taking vital signs, assessing the client’s medical and psychological symptoms, and documenting the same in the daily nursing progress notes. Ensure proper and accurate transcription of physician orders and accurate documentation on the medication administration record, verbal physician orders, and individuals on self-medication plans. Inform the physician of acute or ongoing medical and/or psychiatric problems, scheduled clinic appointment times, and the results of medical assessments and testing. Schedule outside medical appointments and ensure client’s transportation. Review the client’s health plan, develop and manage medical and medication goals for clients’ comprehensive treatment plans, and include clients in the self-administration medication program. Complete intake assessments for new admissions and ensure all documentation is accurate, timely, and aligned with regulatory and program standards. Conduct regular internal audits of nursing documentation and client charts to ensure compliance, accuracy, and completeness. Develop and run nursing groups, act as group therapy co-leaders, and participate in treatment team meetings. Act as liaison between the client’s physicians and the staff. Provide clients and staff with training on hygiene, medication side effects, first aid, nutrition, etc. Provide oversight of the unit while on shift and supervise Psych Techs. Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director.
