About The Position

The CRM Manager leads and executes the design, build, and maintenance of the MIC’s Salesforce CRM database, under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Operations and Culture and in close collaboration with the Data Strategist and the program team. This position is responsible for building on our initial CRM discovery with additional detailed discovery and then designing and configuring a Salesforce instance from the ground up. The person in this role must bring a strong understanding of the Salesforce platform options for nonprofits, along with the ability to understand our organizational needs and translate them into an effectively configured Salesforce instance. The ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating with stakeholders across the organization and be able to clearly explain design options and their tradeoffs.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ experience configuring Salesforce in nonprofit contexts, including fields, objects, pages, roles, profiles, permission sets, flows, and reports and dashboards
  • Experience eliciting detailed requirements from system users
  • Experience designing Salesforce features based on user requirements
  • Experience putting user-centered design principles into practice
  • Experience developing and delivering trainings and people-centered support to stakeholders across the organization
  • Understanding of user testing best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in particular the ability to communicate with nontechnical audiences about technical topics
  • Ability to effectively balance multiple competing priorities
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong alignment with the MIC's mission, values, and culture
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a multiracial team
  • A flexible and resilient approach, with the ability to handle strong opinions/feedback well, and adapt to the dynamic nature of a startup environment

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce Platform Administrator or Nonprofit Cloud Consultant certification a major plus
  • Experience with social movement organizing is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, maintenance, and project management of Salesforce
  • Conduct detailed discovery
  • With staff input and buy-in, design Salesforce configuration for overall relationship management, program participation, and institutional fundraising
  • Configure Salesforce in alignment with the design
  • Migrate data in collaboration with staff
  • Project-manage the design, build, data migration, and rollout
  • Collect feedback from coworkers and use it to implement improvements
  • Create and maintain Salesforce roadmap
  • Discovery for new features needed/new areas of work to be added to the CRM
  • Design new features
  • Implement new features
  • Troubleshoot in collaboration with users and address problems as they arise
  • Manage user accounts and access
  • Support effective data entry and data hygiene
  • Project-manage Salesforce overall
  • Develop and maintain minimum viable documentation to support staff in their use of the CRM

  • Participate in additional activities in collaboration with other staff to prepare, equip, and support people for the change that comes from the rollout of a new CRM
