About The Position

This is a Community Service Work Study student employment position. Applicants must have Federal Work Study funds in their Financial Aid package. Support young, preschool children (under the age of 5) from refugee backgrounds by fostering early exposure to English in a caring, play-based environment. This role combines language engagement, creative play, and cultural sensitivity to help children feel comfortable and supported while their parents participate in resettlement activities or appointments. Location : 2740 SE Powell Blvd Portland, OR 97202 Schedule : Required every Wednesday from 9:30-12:30 , the remaining hours are flexible within the parameter of M-F 9-5 Note: Student may not earn more than $2,000 total in this position, which equates to 118 hours during the Spring semester.

Requirements

• Must have Federal Work Study fund in Financial Aid Package (contact [e-mail] with questions)
• Must be able to work in-person at Catholic Charities office
• Must be available Wednesdays 9:30am to 12:30pm

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working with people who don’t speak English as their primary language
