About The Position

Join UPMC Mercy as a full-time CT Technologist in our Night Program! This position offers a unique opportunity to grow your clinical career while making a direct, meaningful impact on patient care. UPMC Mercy is proud to offer the region’s only Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Burn Center under one roof, and is ranked #13 in the nation for Rehabilitation by U.S. News & World Report. The work schedule includes two 8-hour and two 12-hour night shifts per week, with rotating weekend shifts and team-divided holiday coverage rotation. Leadership attempts to schedule with as much consistency as possible to allow for work-life balance. Eligible Night Program participants will receive an additional $2.00 per hour Night Program differential on top of the standard off-shift differential for these night shifts.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of accredited CNMT program.
  • ARRT registry-eligible technologists must obtain ARRT registry within 6 months of hire date.
  • CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired.
  • CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of hire date if primary registry is already obtained.
  • CNMT graduates must obtain CNMT registry within 6 months of hire date.
  • Must have 6 months of experience to be considered for the Night Program.

Responsibilities

  • Performs computed tomography procedures, including contrast administration, and utilizes complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, and documentation of image data.
  • Ensures all exams within area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
  • Administers PO, rectal, and IV contrast per physician orders/department policy and assesses patients for potential risk factors prior to the administration of the contrast.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner, and explains procedures to help allay the patient's fears and solicit their cooperation.
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
  • Able to work as a team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
  • Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers.
  • Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, and documents patient history in electronic record, as required.
  • Demonstrates proper technique in venipuncture.
