About The Position

Radiology Associates of Albuquerque is seeking a skilled XRAY/CT Technologist to join our outpatient imaging team. Position Summary Performs quality, diagnostic Computed Tomography and X-ray examination Assists radiologist with procedures. Position Schedule Four 10-hour shift days Tuesday- Friday; no nights, weekends or major holidays. Reporting Reports directly to the CT/X-ray Supervisor and indirectly to the CT/XR Charge Technologist. Supervision None Typical Physical Demands Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for operation of department equipment. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Assists patients and places them in appropriate positions for operation of equipment. Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 vision to operate equipment and review images. Typical Working Conditions Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently determine area for examination.
  • Knowledge in all CT, X-ray and fluoroscopic exams and procedures.
  • Knowledge of radiologic equipment and testing.
  • Ability to acquire working knowledge of RIS system, EPIC EMR, PowerShare, PACS Change (McKesson), Qgenda, PenLung and scheduling software.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiology including equipment, body mechanics, and patient movement.
  • Skill to properly positioning patients to provide quality imaging.
  • Skill to trouble shooting equipment operation and perform simple adjustments.
  • Skill to establish effective working relationships with patient, visitors, and staff.
  • Ability to apply written guidelines and standardized work practices.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems using good judgement.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.
  • Current Radiography (R) certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current license with the New Mexico Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program.
  • Current CPR certification or obtained within three months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of experience preferred or recommendation from training program.
  • Experience with IV contrasted CT exams preferred.
  • Current Computed Tomography (CT) certification preferred or one year of CT experience and must obtain CT credential within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for procedures, including taking a medical history and answering questions about the exam.
  • Perform high-quality, diagnostic Computed Tomography, X-ray and fluoroscopic exams in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
  • Performs required Quality Assurance procedures and checks, when assigned.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and clinical staff to support smooth daily workflow.
  • Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and maintaining safety.
  • Operate and maintain Xray/CT equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Performs all necessary clerical duties in the department.
  • Responsible for radiation protection for patients and personnel in the department.
  • Responsible for care and safety of patients during the exam.
  • Responsible for the preparation of all contrast media and essential supplies as needed.
  • Performs IV insertion for intravenous contrast injections
  • Cleans and maintains equipment in department.
  • Stocks exam rooms with necessary supplies.
  • Complies with company and department polices, protocols, and procedures.
  • Completes RIS, PACS and PenLung entries.
  • Interacts with schedulers to facilitate exam scheduling and paperwork preparation.
  • Assists in obtaining prior images for comparison.
  • Participates in staff development and educational activities including attendance at required meetings and participating in committees as requested.
  • Maintains required credentials and licensing.
  • Adheres to the ARRT's Standard of Ethics.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
