Your Opportunity The Stantec team is seeking qualified Archaeological Intern to be based out of the Indianapolis Area. The variety of work tasks for the intern is expected to be broad, and we are interested in an individual who is adaptive and flexible. As an Archaeological Intern, you will play a role in supporting field programs with a primary focus on cultural resources and archaeological investigations. This position provides the opportunity to work on unique and diverse projects while ensuring compliance with ethical and professional standards. This position requires the ability to work outdoors in urban and remote locations and for extended periods under all weather conditions. Location: While based in the Indianapolis metro area, this position can include some level of local travel throughout Indiana. Applicants residing within an hour of Indianapolis are strongly encouraged to apply, though candidates from farther away may also be considered. The internship will not exceed 20 hours per week. Schedule accommodation for students enrolled in course work can be discussed with supervisor. Your Key Responsibilities Working knowledge of archaeological resources and regulations. Support excavation, documentation, and data processing. Ability to complete physically demanding tasks, including walking, hiking, and carrying loads up to 50 pounds. Assist with artifact analysis. Assist technical staff with various project tasks. Actively participate in Stantec’s health and safety programs. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Qualifications Ability to keep clear and concise field notes (including standardized forms). Willingness and ability to work with a diverse team. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) Education and Experience Actively earning a bachelor’s degree (minimum) or master’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or related field, and a minimum of 2 years of related undergraduate coursework. Minimum high school diploma. Working knowledge of Midwest/Great Lakes archaeology and field methods is preferred. Valid driver’s license.
