Under the close supervision of the Assistant Zoo Director/Collections Curator, the Curatorial Assistant/IT is responsible for the following: Preparing and distributing of media tools regarding the Zoo’s conservation and research efforts. Aiding in the preparation and distribution of media tools regarding the Zoo’s education and other efforts. Aiding in developing and updating the social media schedule that reinforces the significance and relevancy of Peoria Zoo programs. Performing tasks necessary to meet schedule. Aiding in developing content and updating Zoo’s website. Researching and recommending additional electronic forms of marketing and aiding in securing impactful social media placements. Performing special IT/data projects as assigned by the Collections Curator. Aiding in the preparation of grant proposals. Following all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed. Supporting all aspects of the Park District’s safety program. Performing other duties as assigned Essential Functions: The work requires periodic physical exertion in handling supplies, equipment, and materials typically found within a zoological environment. Prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and the ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds will be required on an as-needed basis. Must have the ability to manipulate keyboard, phone, and fax machine. The indoor work setting is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Outdoor work will expose the incumbent to a wide range of weather patterns and environmental surroundings.
