About The Position

The Office of the Registrar provides leadership and service in student enrollment and academic record management that supports recruitment, retention, and graduation goals of Colorado State University. For more information about the Office of the Registrar please visit: https://registrar.colostate.edu/ Position Summary The Technician III position oversees campus-wide academic scheduling and resolves complex time, space, and resource conflicts. The role manages technical coding and data integrity across Banner, CLSS, EMS, and CIM to ensure accurate, policy-compliant scheduling and registration processes. Responsibilities include registration access management, exam scheduling, and curriculum data integration to support efficient academic operations and student access. Working collaboratively with campus partners, the position applies professional judgment and provides guidance to support large-scale scheduling initiatives and institutional priorities.

Requirements

  • Experience Only: Three (3) years of general clerical work experience which must include one year of work in an institution of higher education such as the registrar office, admissions office, student services or related department OR Education and Experience: A combination of related education and/or of general clerical work experience which must include one year of work in an institution of higher education such as the registrar office, admissions office, student services or related department equal to three (3) years.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a college or university setting with exposure to curriculum approval processes.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and experience working with administrative student information systems: preferably Ellucian Banner Student modules (such as registration, academic history, class scheduling, catalog, etc.), LeepFrog (CourseLeaf Catalog, Curriculum Management, and Class Scheduling Systems).
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills as demonstrated by respectful and effective interactions with diverse constituencies including but not limited to students, faculty, staff, and vendors at all levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent written communication skills as demonstrated by application materials.
  • Ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Directly related state service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Apply professional judgement to curriculum and policy interpretation: Review curricular proposals for alignment with University policy, UCC requirements, and technical constraints, and determine when issues must be escalated, corrected, or clarified with departments or governance bodies.
  • Ensure end to end curricular data integrity across systems: Interpret approved curriculum (CIM forms, UCC minutes) and determine how data must be structured, adjusted, and reconciled so it accurately syncs between CIM, Banner, and CAT, often requiring nuanced judgement about which system is authoritative.
  • Build and modify courses in Banner based on approved governance actions: Translate governance decisions into technically correct Banner records, including prerequisite rules and coding structures, while meeting immovable deadlines tied to registration and catalog publication.
  • Diagnose and resolve CIM-Banner sync and reconciliation errors: Analyze complex data discrepancies, identify root causes, decide where corrections should occur (CIM vs. Banner), and implement fixes to successfully sync data.
  • Serve as a cross-functional liaison among academic, governance, and systems stakeholders: Coordinate with UCC, CoSRGE, Graduate School, Provost Office, academic units, scheduling, and systems staff to resolve complex curricular issues that span policy, data and technology.
  • Recommend system and form modifications to improve curricular workflows: Identify systemic issues in CIM forms, reports or workflows and recommend modifications to processes that improve accuracy, efficiency, and data integrity.
  • Ensure accurate inclusion of approved curriculum in the General Catalog: Track approved changes, manage technical catalog builds and removals, update dynamic tables and navigation, and ensure published catalog content accurately reflects approved curriculum and system data.
  • Other duties as assigned.
