About The Position

Responsible for identifying and supporting the use of high-quality instructional resources, enhancing teaching and learning, and scaling effective programs for mathematics intervention. Focuses heavily on delivering high-quality instructional materials through the lens of resource development, curation, refinement, implementation, and continual improvement.

Requirements

• Five (5) or more years of teaching experience in mathematics Required.
• Bachelor's Degree - Education or relevant subject area - Required.
• Valid Colorado Driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage, and an acceptable driving record for the past three years. - Required.
• Knowledge of best practices in curriculum, instruction, standards-based education, and effective instructional programs and methodologies for mathematics intervention.
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Self-starter/leader who can anticipate department needs in a proactive manner.
• Ability to multi-task and juggle management of several high-priority projects in parallel.
• Ability to develop and interpret data and manage resources.
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
• High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to lead a high-performing team.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Google products including Docs, Sheets, Slides and Gmail.

Nice To Haves

• Two (2) or more years instructional coaching experiences - Preferred.
• Master's Degree - Education or relevant subject area - Preferred.
• Previous experience working in an urban district with Multilingual Learners - Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the development, implementation, and continual improvement of a coherent math intervention curriculum and instructional program aligned to the Colorado Academic Standards (CAS), Common Core State Standards (CCSS), and DPS Math Instructional Vision.
• Assesses the needs of the core mathematics content area, intervention teachers, and school leaders. Leads the development and communication of resources to address those needs.
• Develops research-based recommendations for instructional strategies, curriculum implementation, and assessments to increase the quality of teaching and learning in mathematics intervention.
• Ensures strong vertical and horizontal alignment in mathematics intervention resources, as well as alignment with core programming through collaboration with the elementary and secondary math teams.
• Creates and facilitates professional learning for teachers and leaders related to content, curriculum, and instructional best practices for mathematics intervention.
• Assists principal supervisors and school principals in the identification of programs, instructional materials, and current effective teaching practices to ensure effective mathematics interventions.
• Supports walkthroughs and the development of coaching plans, which include focused goals and measures of success. Provides coaching to targeted audiences in order to improve instruction, curriculum implementation, assessment practices, and intervention systems.
• Deeply analyzes student achievement data (diagnostics, progress monitoring assessments, benchmark assessments) to determine how to continually improve math intervention district wide.
