About The Position

The Custodial Floor Technician cleans and maintains care of all types of flooring surfaces. The Custodial Floor Technician has the additional responsibilities of cleaning offices, halls, classrooms and similar areas in the school building and performs related work as required by immediate supervisor. Result will be a safe, clean and efficient building environment. Perform project work as assigned. Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED from an accredited institution
  • Three (3) years of custodial experience
  • Ability to understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures
  • Knowledge of floor care programs or ability to learn how to properly maintain floors through national recognized company
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment
  • Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies
  • Average hearing
  • Corrected 20/20 vision
  • Good depth perception
  • Ability to distinguish between colors

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years job-related experience

Responsibilities

  • Clean, strip, wax, buff and burnish hard floor surfaces
  • Shampoo, extract, and spot clean carpets
  • Operate and maintain various types of floor care equipment such as auto scrubbers, buffers, extractors and vacuums
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas including hallways, classrooms, offices, restrooms and other public areas
  • Dust, vents, ledges, shelves and horizontal surfaces
  • Disinfect restroom sinks, urinals, fixtures, partitions, showers and floors
  • Polish all chrome
  • Disinfect public phones and water fountains
  • Remove facility trash and place in dumpster.
  • Re-line cans
  • Empty pencil sharpeners
  • Wash and dry mops/rags as needed
  • Perform set-ups for meetings and special events
  • Police grounds and parking lot daily
  • Replenish dispensers as needed
  • Other general custodial duties as assigned by the supervisor including, but not limited to moving furniture and equipment
  • Move furniture and perform project cleaning
  • Mix chemicals
  • Sweep sidewalks, patios and entrances
  • Responding to emergencies or crisis situation in the District as directed by supervisor.
