About The Position

Description The rate for this position is $18.88 per hour Aproximate 19 hours per week POSITION SUMMARY: This position assists the supervising Facilities Manager in planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the work of part-time custodial staff involved in the custodial maintenance and cleaning of County buildings, offices, and equipment. Position reviews work progress via thorough inspections and monitors the available inventory of applicable cleaning and maintenance supplies. Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. certification from a recognized issuing agency.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the building/maintenance trades and/or custodial fields.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Knowledge of modern cleaning methods, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ability to use cleaning supplies and equipment economically and efficiently.
  • Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions.
  • Ability to plan and direct the work of others.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs, bend, stoop, climb, and reach.
  • Must be able to engage in work that may be dusty, dirty, noisy, or malodorous.
  • Position requires the ability to work extended shifts during a Facilities emergency.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Facilities & Operations Management team in planning custodial work and the assignment of work to part-time custodial staff.
  • Ensures proper supplies are available (paper towels, cleaning solution, etc.) and recommends ordering of supplies to the Facilities Manager as needed.
  • Performs floor-by-floor inspections to ensure proper cleaning procedures are followed.
  • Confirms custodial workers complete routine and specialized duties as assigned and in keeping with the County’s custodial standards.
  • Coordinates the nightly removal of trash and recyclable materials to designated areas in County facilities.
  • Performs custodial duties as may be required, including but not limited to sweeping, dusting, emptying waste cans and ashtrays, vacuuming, and restroom sanitation.
  • Ensures all areas are properly secured against unauthorized access following the completion of custodial duties therein.
  • Reports all policy- and/or performance-related issues with the custodial staff to the Facilities Manager for further action.
  • Verifies the nightly attendance of custodial staff and provides the same to the Facilities Manager for payroll purposes.
  • Assists in the training and orientation of all new part-time custodial employees.
  • Reports all observed maintenance concerns, including equipment malfunctions, to the Facilities Manager for further action.
  • Assists the Facilities Management team in communicating emergency events (e.g. County closure due to inclement weather) to custodial staff.
