UW Medical Center – Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for Custodian Supervisors. WORK SCHEDULES - CURRENT OPENINGS 100% FTE (40 hours per week), Day Shift, 7:00am-3:30pm 100% FTE (40 hours per week), Evening Shift, 3:00pm-11:30pm POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Provides daily supervision of custodial staff under the direction of the Manager, ensuring cleaning services meet safety, regulatory, and quality standards. Oversees workflow and staff performance to maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained hospital environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
  • Minimum three years of custodial experience, including at least two years in a supervisory role within healthcare environmental services.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise EVS staff, including interviewing, hiring recommendations, scheduling, and daily work assignments.
  • Monitor workloads and adjust staffing plans to ensure proper coverage and efficient room turnover.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met; document performance and address issues.
  • Conduct training, in-services, coaching, corrective actions, and performance evaluations per UWMC procedures.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping, payroll, and leave records using electronic systems (e.g., UKG).
  • Investigate and report safety hazards and incidents; ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (TJC, DOH, federal/state/local).
  • Manage EVS equipment and supply inventory, including ordering and recommending process improvements.
  • Collaborate with leadership and departments to support customer service, infection control, performance improvement, and hospital initiatives.
