About The Position

Performs work cleaning and maintaining county buildings and grounds including all public areas and staff office areas, ensuring sanitation and safety of facilities and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Facilities Manager and/or guidance of the Building Maintenance Supervisor. Work schedule will be as needed/on-call with a maximum of 520 hours per year. Work schedule and hours will be coordinated by Facilities Manager and/or Building Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and considerable experience in custodial work or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials and equipment.
  • Ability to perform operations involved in custodial duties.
  • Ability to read and understand written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to maintain a regular and timely work attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and sanities restrooms; replace supplies; washes windows and walls; dust, polishes, and move furniture for cleaning.
  • Vacuums and cleans floors; sweeps, mops, strips, and polishes floors; shampoos carpets.
  • Collects and removes rubbish, wastepaper, and recycle materials.
  • Locks and unlocks doors as needed to maintain security.
  • Notifies immediate supervisor of required building repairs and unsafe conditions.
  • Maintains inventory stock of cleaning supplies.
  • Opens and sets up meeting rooms.
  • Removes snow and ice to maintain safety.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
