Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of sales/marketing/sales strategy experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply business analytics.
  • Pattern of initiative.
  • Proven problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment on a variety of complex projects.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, organizational skills and analytical skills.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven record of successful sales results on a Retail Customer Executive position.
  • 2+ years of sales/marketing/sales strategy experience.
  • Previous Target-specific experience, directly with Target or as a Target vendor partner.
  • Previous broker management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements and executes sales and distribution plans for Target.
  • Collaborates with their Customer Business Manager and Sales Strategy to develop annual sales plans that are aligned with those of the operating units. Business Plans are also a collaborative effort with Corporate Category Sales in goal setting.
  • Identifies threats and opportunities in the categories that we compete in that could affect sales volume, market share, trade efficiencies and profitability to the company and communicates them to their Customer Business Manager.
  • Aligns Distribution, Shelving, Merchandising, and Pricing (DSMP) established by the National Category Sales Manager’s segment to ensure the execution of DSMP objectives are met.
  • Conducts routine discussions with the customer, reviewing trade practices and efficiencies and recommending new tactics that are mutually beneficial in delivering profitable sales. Accountable to efficiently manage trade budget.
  • Manages relationship with broker partner team.
  • Works closely with Sales Strategy to Scenario Plan for maximum efficiencies.
  • Interprets information from category analytics team and Sales Strategy team regarding category sales, brand sales, share growth and promotional efficiency. From this information the incumbent provides insights and recommendations on tactics used to drive sales on Hormel brands.
  • Leverages insights through business analytics and Category Management to develop and deliver Insights Driven presentations to drive brand initiatives and results for the company.
  • Responsible for continuing to develop and enhance their competencies through participation in learning and development workshops. These include, but are not limited to, training available at the local, regional and national meetings intended to improve selling techniques, knowledge of the customer and company, and other business practices.
