About The Position

The Customer Service Representative delivers high‑quality service by responding to and resolving customer inquiries, service requests, and account-related issues through telephone, electronic communication, and written correspondence. This role supports a wide range of utility functions, including processing payments, assisting with billing inquiries, establishing, and maintaining customer accounts, and coordinating service orders with field personnel. The CSR is also responsible for researching and resolving customer concerns, promoting available service options, and ensuring accurate documentation across all customer interactions. In addition, this position plays a critical safety role by assessing and responding to gas‑related emergency calls in accordance with established procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Minimum two years in the customer service field
  • Minimum of one year in a call center environment
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and Windows operating environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software applications and acquire industry‑specific knowledge.
  • General understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to respond patiently, professionally, and courteously to customer inquiries, including escalated or emotionally charged situations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering high‑quality customer service.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and high energy level in challenging circumstances (e.g., high call volume, difficult or irate customers).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by responding to inbound calls regarding customer accounts and resolving inquiries with accuracy and professionalism. Responsibilities include providing billing and payment information; establishing and closing residential and commercial gas accounts; evaluating credit history and assessing deposits as required; processing profile updates such as name, mailing address, and contact changes; managing Landlord Property Agreements; and enrolling customers in automatic payment programs upon request.
  • Coordinate and dispatch service work orders for meter installations, exchanges, unlocks, initial and final service requests, emergency response, and other service‑related activities.
  • Maintain active certification in Natural Gas Occupational Qualifications (OQ) and adhere to all safety and regulatory standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Management to support departmental operations and organizational goals.
