About The Position

The Cutting Die Mounter is responsible for all tasks related to setting up and using die cutters. This includes mounting dies, performing setup and cleanup procedures, and suggesting ways to improve operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions on factory masters.
  • Ability to read a tape measure quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate. Understanding of high school math concepts.
  • Ability to use common sense to understand and follow instructions provided in written, oral, or visual formats.
  • Ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in routine situations.
  • Working knowledge of: Equipment design and capabilities for efficient operation.
  • Product layouts and production specifications.
  • Product quality specifications.
  • Quality standards.
  • May be required to have a valid Lift Truck Operator License.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee frequently uses their hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high places, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Employee performance will be evaluated in the following areas: Operating Standards: The employee must meet or exceed operating standards for quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction, and productivity. These standards will be set annually and communicated to the employee.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in the corrugated industry.
  • 6 months of experience in a Press and Finishing Department.
  • 6 months of experience as a Die Cutter or Flexo Operator.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and file print cards in the correct order. Remove outdated print cards as instructed.
  • Prepare the layout for printing mounts.
  • Install printing dies and check them for accuracy. Verify the accuracy of die mounting done by other team members, following proper setup methods.
  • Maintain printing mounts and dies by filing, retrieving, and washing them.
  • Inspect all incoming print mounts and cutting dies, making any necessary repairs to minimize production downtime.
  • Inform the Plant Superintendent of any printing or cutting dies that need to be replaced.
  • Check all new cutting dies and "knock-offs" for accuracy.
  • Provide accurate ink inventory reports as scheduled, including reports for piece kits.
  • Receive and store ink in the designated storage area daily.
  • Prepare machine line-ups as needed.
  • Sort, file, and distribute load tags.
  • Complete all necessary reports accurately and on time, including production data, machine status, safety information, and quality data.
  • Submit maintenance requests to supervisors for any required repairs. Take a proactive approach to equipment maintenance.
  • Follow the production schedule and recommend ways to improve it to meet cost, quality, and service goals. Report any scheduling problems to the Supervisor.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, with a focus on safety and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
